North Ridgeville — The council appointed Erica Ventura to fill a volunteer vacancy on the Park & Recreation Commission and urged residents to take part in an update to the Parks & Recreation Master Plan.
Mayor Corcoran described Ventura as a 16-year resident of Ward 2 who has participated in public-input sessions and whose family uses city recreation programs. Council moved and voted to appoint Ventura during the meeting.
Officials also announced a partnership with consulting firm McKenna to develop an updated vision for parks, facilities and recreation programs. Staff reported outreach at the recent Touch-a-Truck event and said residents can contribute ideas via an online interactive map, a brief survey, and public events including the summer concert on June 21 and the Corn Festival on Aug. 8. Many responses so far have asked for a pool and a recreation center; staff noted those are challenging to fund but encouraged continued input.
The council encouraged participation and noted the Parks & Recreation Master Plan process will guide future capital and programming decisions.
