The Park County Airport Board voted to authorize the purchase of a 12‑foot batwing mower for Mission Field, to help manage grass on the runway edges and taxiways.
Vice Chair James Wilch moved to approve up to $15,000 for the mower purchase, and Paul Lineman seconded the motion. The board chair called for the voice vote and the motion passed; staff were directed to proceed with ordering and to seek competitive pricing from in‑state dealers where appropriate.
Board members said the 12‑foot width best addresses the extent of grass to be managed and emphasized the need for operator training and operating policies to avoid equipment damage. The chair noted that earlier equipment procurements (a tractor and snowblower) remain underway and that securing mowing equipment now will help seasonal readiness.
The purchase authorization does not specify a single dealer; staff will seek quotes and return with vendor details as required by county procurement procedures.
