The Bluff Town Council adopted its final fiscal year 2026-27 budget and approved a final certified tax rate of 0.000531 at a June 16 regular meeting.
Councilors voted unanimously to adopt the budget after staff incorporated changes discussed at a June 9 work session. The budget moves capital expenses into capital funds to improve year-to-year visibility and rollover; increases the FY27 airport maintenance line to $450 for mowing or small equipment; raises insurance estimates; and retains funds carried forward for EMS supplies and emergency support. Mosquito abatement and noxious weed items were moved from administrative to miscellaneous. The council recorded that the certified tax rate decreased from 0.000543 to 0.000531 because property values in Bluff have risen while the town—ollection amount remains fixed.
Mayor Josh Ewing called for the roll-call vote on the certified tax-rate resolution; the tally was Gary Haws yes, Spencer Wade yes, Josh Ewing no, Jennifer Davila yes and Britt Hornsby yes (4-1). The budget resolution passed unanimously.
Staff said shifting capital items into capital funds will make it easier to see available balances and allow intended capital projects to roll over annually. The council did not modify the town's major service lines beyond the line-item adjustments recorded in the meeting packet.
The council approved the budget and tax-rate resolutions by roll call and adjourned the meeting at 4:35 p.m.
