Chief Business Officer Nathan Hernandez presented the budget, stressing that it preserves the district’s required minimum reserves and a positive ending fund balance while addressing enrollment changes and ongoing cost pressures. Hernandez said the budget also reflects the district’s work to align people, time and funds to priorities that have the greatest impact on students.
Board members did not request substantive changes during the second reading. A motion to approve the 2026–27 VUSD budget was moved by Taylor, seconded by Miss Kamoyan, and carried on a vote of five yes and two absent.
Hernandez said district financial staff will continue resource‑management work to ensure long‑term sustainability as one‑time funding phases out. The board’s action finalizes the budget for the upcoming school year; no additional hearings were announced at the meeting.
