Commissioners flag burden from new billboard contractor and reduced placements
Summary
Commissioners raised concerns that a new billboard contractor provides fewer digital placements and expects the city to supply formatted graphics, creating extra staff work; the contract expires in December and the commission discussed options to share design tasks with the chamber or others.

During commissioner comments, members raised problems with the city's new billboard vendor and package. Commissioners said the prior vendor had proactively assembled creative and ran timely placements; the new arrangement provides fewer digital locations (four instead of five) and requires the city to supply ready-to-run artwork in specified dimensions.
Chris, who handles the city's graphics, described the extra steps required to convert flyers or nonstandard art into billboard-ready JPEGs and said the work can be time-consuming. Commissioners suggested the chamber or community volunteers might assist, and they noted the contract renewal is scheduled for December.
The commission also discussed geographic coverage changes (loss of one Rogers Avenue location near Mercy, additional placements behind Home Depot, by Tacos for Life and near the airport) and asked staff to keep the chamber and other partners informed so the city's public-facing promotions continue to run effectively.
