The Norwich Township Board of Trustees approved updated cemetery rules and established pricing for the new Wesley Chapel columbarium in December 2017.
Cemetery and Road Superintendent Robbie Thomas briefed the board on columbarium planning throughout 2017, including Modlich headstone templates and foundation work. Trustees previously approved proceeding with the columbarium project and a concrete foundation estimated at $30,000.
On December 19 the trustees adopted updated Wesley Chapel Cemetery Rules and Regulations and set niche prices at $700 per niche for residents and $2,000 per niche for non-residents. The board discussed personalization limits, installation timing and the addition of lettering to the columbarium columns to identify niche locations; trustees authorized the lettering (estimated $1,000) and instructed staff to provide final polish on policies and signage.
Trustees also authorized repair of a damaged headstone after staff determined an earlier equipment incident required remediation; the replacement/repair estimate was approximately $1,800 and the board agreed to cover the cost.
