Norwich Township authorizes removal of unsafe structure at 3845 Dublin Road using land‑bank program

Township officials told trustees that the property at 3845 Dublin Road had been marked unsafe and structurally defective after an April inspection by Franklin County; the owner’s estate was in probate and staff reported plans to pursue removal.

Trustee authorization followed a sequence of notices and findings. The board approved a notice to the property owner and a resolution providing notice of intent to remove structurally defective structures on the parcel; the trustees later approved a resolution to proceed with removal and agreed to use the Central Ohio Community Improvement Corporation land bank program to manage demolition and abatement (motion passed #180703.05).

Fiscal Officer Jamie Miles and Township Administrator Jamie Fisher explained that the property had been marked by county inspectors and that the township would coordinate land‑bank paperwork and title matters with the owner’s estate before demolition. Trustees authorized the administrator to sign any required documents for the land bank program; Mr. Buck asked staff to follow due process and keep the board apprised of costs and timeline.

The board also handled related nuisance notices: in mid‑June trustees approved a nuisance declaration and short notice authority for the property to allow the township to address vegetation and debris if the owner did not act (motion passed #180619.06). Trustees said they wanted to minimize costs to taxpayers and to use the land bank program to manage demolition and eventual sale or disposition of the parcel.
