Norwich trustees approve cape seal, cemetery columbarium and several vehicle purchases

Norwich Township trustees approved several capital projects and equipment purchases across 2017, including road resurfacing, cemetery improvements and vehicle replacements.
At the February 21 meeting the trustees accepted Strawser Construction Inc.’s state term quote for the 2017 cape seal project for designated township roads at $95,174.64. During the same meeting trustees approved proceeding with a columbarium project at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, including concrete foundation work with an estimated cost of $30,000. Cemetery Sexton and Road Superintendent Robbie Thomas updated the board on storage-building planning, AEP easement work, and headstone reviews.
The board approved the purchase of a 2018 Freightliner M2 106 chassis through state term contract for $73,244 and later approved a replacement dump truck package from The Gledhill Road Machinery Co. for $55,695.34.
Separately, trustees authorized an open bid for the Norwich Township Road Department storage building (estimated $78,000) on July 18; on September 19 the trustees accepted Janco LLC’s low bid of $85,645 (within the 10% acceptance threshold) and approved a CIAC agreement with AEP for $377.80 to provide electric service for the site.
Trustees emphasized using state term contracts where possible and requested additional documentation for project timelines and easement approvals prior to contractor mobilization.
