Crawford council approves limited fireworks hours for late June and July 4th weekend

The Crawford City Council voted June 10 to set permitted hours for consumer fireworks around the Independence Day holiday.
Patti Page moved and Christopher Dean seconded a motion to allow fireworks June 28 through July 2 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and July 3–4 from 9:00 a.m. to midnight. The motion carried with Page, Dean and Gaston voting aye; Council Member Scott DeBock was absent. Mayor April Grant said the approved schedule will be communicated to the Dawes County Sheriff's office for enforcement.
Council members referenced last year's timeframe and discussed who would enforce the hours; they also noted Nebraska state law permits fireworks sales from June 24 through July 5. The council did not place additional restrictions beyond the approved hours at this meeting.
