Crawford council approves consent agenda, awards $2,500 Keno grant for National History Day travel

The City of Crawford Council on June 10 approved a multi-item consent agenda that included $2,500 in Keno funds to help a local National History Day group travel to the national competition.

Council Member Christopher Dean moved to approve the consent agenda, and Patti Page seconded. The motion carried with Dean, Page and Dianne Gaston voting aye; Council Member Scott DeBock was absent.

Items approved under the consent agenda included approval of the May 27, 2025 regular meeting minutes; SDL (special designated liquor) licenses for July 1–4 for the Rodeo and park areas; temporary business-hour extensions for Diamond Jack's Corner Bar (extended to 2:00 a.m. on July 3–4) and The Tailgate Bar and Grill (extended to 2:00 a.m. on July 5); and placing Council Member Patti Page on city bank accounts. The council also approved Planning Commission–recommended building permits for homeowners Ronnie Thompson (car/RV port), Mandy Horn (wooden fence to connect/extend beer garden), and Janet Hinze (metal garage and porch work), and an emergency SDL for an alumni event June 27–28 at the Napa Building, 135 Main Street.

The Keno award was specifically authorized to help with travel expenses for the local History Day team attending the national competition; the motion allotted $2,500 from Keno funds. The council took no abstentions and voiced no recorded opposition.

Following the vote the council proceeded to departmental reports and other agenda items; there were no further actions tied to the consent items at the meeting's close.
