Council introduces pay-plan amendments and approves personnel handbook updates

The Radcliff City Council introduced June 16 multiple personnel-related ordinances amending the city’s classification and compensation pay plan. The first-reading amendments to the employee-strength table included increases to police funded strength (from 22 to 26 officers), firefighter funded-strength adjustments (from 19 to 21) and new positions in storm water maintenance and the building department.
Councilmember-led introduction noted pay-grade adjustments for records technicians and park staff and an amendment to authorize a building official position. The council also introduced a separate ordinance addressing salary pay equalization and adjustment; that ordinance will return for a second reading and formal debate.
Separately, the council approved amendments to the City of Radcliff policy and procedures handbook related to personnel (sections on entrance and grade changes and firefighter salary scales). The handbook changes were adopted by roll call (Bell, Brown, D Ro, Merl, Owens, Thompson voted yes). Council members said the pay-plan changes respond to recruiting needs and to ensure correct classification lines in the budget.
