Radcliff holds first reading of $19.18 million 2026–27 budget; second reading planned

The Radcliff City Council presented the first reading June 16 of the annual budget ordinance for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026 and ending June 30, 2027. The ordinance lists anticipated revenues, intergovernmental transfers and appropriations with total general-fund resources and appropriations stated at about $19,182,450.
City finance director James Fox and the mayor described the plan as lean and focused on retaining staff while limiting tax increases. The reading included line items: police ($6,575,700), fire ($4,252,950), administration ($1,552,100), public works ($1,778,400), parks and recreation ($166,800) and capital fund appropriations ($2,678,500). The budget text as read listed other revenues, franchise fees and license and permit fees; the council noted the numbers were prepared after multiple budget meetings.
Council members stressed that this was a first reading and that formal discussion and any proposed changes would occur at the second reading before final adoption. Mayor Mike and the finance director said the city has not raised property taxes recently and that prior rate decisions helped keep tax bills low despite assessment increases.
The council did not vote to adopt the budget at this meeting. Staff indicated the second reading and any public comment on the budget will be scheduled at a subsequent meeting.
