SUMA, SU and Utah Symphony seek RAP support for summer and fall programming

Bloom emphasized SUMA’s free admission policy, high local participation (she reported 75% of walk‑in visitors were Iron County residents among local traffic), and the museum’s role in providing year‑round visual arts experiences tied to campus and community partners.
Jet Bligget (SU percussion director) described the new Eckles Music Center concert hall (510 seats) and an SU Signature series that will bring Grammy‑level artists to campus. SU asked the committee for $7,500 to cover educational outreach tied to artist visits — classroom sessions and in‑school masterclasses — that accompany the concert series.
Callie Foresight (Utah Symphony) outlined the Music Elevated state tour in celebration of America 250 and asked for $23,000 to underwrite the Cedar City stop, a free Main Street Park concert planned for July 8 with an expected RSVP of ~3,000 guests; the tour will also include workshops and a Pioneer Fiddles project. Foresight said RAP and local support allow the Symphony to offer free community concerts and education performances across the state.
Committee members asked for supplemental financial details and line‑item breakout to support their recommendations. No allocations were decided during the June 17 hearing; the RAP panel will review submitted templates and finalize recommendations at the scheduled follow‑up meeting.
