Brooks County EMS seeks city help with site utilities for planned ambulance station

The EMS speaker said the project will proceed in two phases: erecting a single metal building and concrete pad for the first phase, then installing living quarters, training space and offices in a second phase. EMS said they have funds to complete the first phase and are preparing grant applications for additional needs. The group requested help locating a water meter, assistance with sewer taps and excavation, and quick coordination to reduce subcontracting costs.
City staff discussed the presence of an existing meter box and sewer line and said locating and tying into those utilities will be part of the coordination for the project; the city indicated it can provide technical information such as pit sizes and materials pricing to help the EMS group prepare grant applications and cost estimates.
Council members expressed support and asked the EMS group to supply details so the city can evaluate any in‑kind or modest financial assistance and align the project with other local infrastructure priorities.
