Covington honors CFL player A.J. Ouellette and marks 250th anniversary of U.S. Post Office

At the Jan. 20, 2026 meeting Mayor Lee Harmon read and presented a proclamation honoring A.J. Ouellette, a 2014 Covington graduate who helped the Saskatchewan Roughriders win the Grey Cup on Nov. 16, 2025. Supporters attended the council meeting for the presentation.
Harmon also read a proclamation marking the 250th anniversary of the creation of the United States Post Office. The mayor announced a community event to honor Ouellette on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2026 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Covington Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Councilmember Julie Blumenstock thanked Ouellette and noted his work with the Special Olympics Weightlifting Camp. No formal action or funding was associated with the proclamations; these were ceremonial recognitions recorded in the minutes.
