Covington officials ask planning commission to review trail and zoning consultants; announce tours, website launch and America 250 dates

At the Jan. 20 meeting Village Administrator Jordan Hodges updated council on several planning and operational items. He said the planning commission will review proposals for consulting work to develop a walking and bike path across the former railroad corridor; the commission will bring the selected proposal back to council for review.
Hodges also said the planning commission will review proposals for a diagnostic assessment of the village zoning code. He provided tentative dates under consideration for America 250 events (June 6 or 13; July 3; or Sept. 4–7, 2026). Hodges announced a wastewater treatment plant tour for council members on Friday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m., and said the new village website is scheduled to go live on Jan. 28, 2026.
These items are preliminary administrative actions: consultant selection and BZA/commission review are required before council votes or contract awards. Funding sources and contract amounts were not listed in the minutes.
