Covington administrator outlines US 36/US 48 schedule, bridge demolition and grant timelines

At the Jan. 5 meeting Village Administrator Jordan Hodges briefed the council on several infrastructure and planning items.
Hodges reported the N. Main Street bridge demolition is in progress and should finish within days if weather cooperates; safety measures will be added in the area after demolition. He said the village is still collecting quotes for Community Park ball diamond lighting.
Hodges announced that Right-of-Way Acquisition Services bids for the US 36 project were received and OR Colan was selected; services are scheduled to begin in late January. He said that if the village is awarded Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) funds, the US 36 utility construction would be bid late 2026 and construction would commence in 2027, with paving on US 36 and US 48 expected in 2028 after construction concludes.
On grant funding, Hodges said there were more than 200 statewide applications for the Brownfield project; the village should hear about awards in roughly three months. He also noted the village website is being rebuilt and expected to go live at the end of January or early February.
Hodges closed by reminding council of upcoming items: a Wastewater Treatment Plant tour for council on Jan. 23 at 2 PM, a Downtown Redevelopment District meeting on Jan. 26 at 2 PM, village offices closed Jan. 19 for Martin Luther King Day, and the next council meeting scheduled for Jan. 20 at 7 PM.
