The Marquette County Highway Committee voted March 17 to accept material bids and to award the Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) contract to WK Construction for $326,725.
Brian Trebiatowski, highway department staff, reviewed the material bids and stated the LRIP project will be awarded to the sole bidder, WK Construction, in the amount of $326,725. Lance Achterberg moved to accept the material bids and to utilize the bidder most advantageous to the county at the time of need based on availability and price; Kathy Jo Locke seconded. The motion carried.
The motion authorizes staff to choose among prequalified or responsive material bidders on a project-by-project basis according to availability and price, rather than fixing a single bidder for future work. The committee recorded the motion as carried; the minutes do not include a roll-call tally or any recorded opposition.
The committee also reviewed other procurement and equipment items later in the meeting, including an equipment auction relisting for truck #009.
