Council approved the $90,000 payment for budgeted ambulance services on a motion by Robert Phillips and a second by Chris Cantwell; the vote was recorded as unanimous among present members.
On a motion by Council Member Debb Formanek, seconded by Chris Cantwell, the council approved payment of $1,265,055.56 to CTC Disaster Response and $213,910.68 to ER Assist for the May 2024 storm debris cleanup and monitoring expense. That motion is expressly contingent on receipt of FEMA Category A funds in the amount of $1,110,231.42. The mayor or the recorder/treasurer was directed to prepare a resolution making the necessary budget adjustments for adoption at the April 2025 meeting if the FEMA deposit is received.
Mayor Jeff Van Sickler said the city has received a first FEMA payment of $5,625 for park repairs and noted the city has 18 months to use those funds. He also announced ADEM approved a 12‑month extension to complete the City Hall project and that the street department’s Tar Machine is insured and in service.
What happens next: the storm‑debris payments will be executed only if the FEMA Category A payment is deposited; the council asked staff to prepare the budget adjustment resolution for the April meeting.
