On May 20 the Area Plan Commission voted 14-0 to recommend adoption of Resolution 2026-04, a second amendment to the West Lafayette Downtown Plan that would expand the downtown plan to include Oakwood Village and program future land-use categories for new spaces. Ryan O’Gara, APC staff, said the amendment process began in 2024 when West Lafayette City requested changes and that a first draft with public comment was introduced in 2025; the final draft added clarifications on maximum building height and included consultant work on transportation improvements.
No members of the public spoke for or against the amendment at the APC hearing, and no board questions were raised. Ryan O’Gara collected input from stakeholders during the amendment process, the staff report said, and the Commission’s favorable recommendation will move the amendment forward for final adoption steps.
