Planning committee approves three rezoning requests totaling 153.61 acres

The Marquette County Planning & Zoning Committee on April 2 approved three separate rezoning requests covering a combined 153.61 acres and forwarded each petition to the County Board for consideration.
Jean Potter, the county zoning administrator, told the committee that each hearing was properly noticed and that the respective towns (Moundville, Newton and Packwaukee) had approved the applicants’ requests. Applicants Cheryl Selbach, James and Hope Spillner, and Dawson Vogelsang spoke in agreement with their petitions during their hearings.
The three requests were: Selbach (N1081 County Road CX, Town of Moundville) to rezone 7.0 acres to AG-3(2) and 61.60 acres to Farmland Preservation Overlay (FPO), totaling 68.60 acres; James and Hope Spillner (Willison Rd, Town of Newton) to rezone a minimum of 4.0 acres to AG-3(4) and 31.63 acres to FPO, totaling 35.63 acres; and Dawson Vogelsang (Fern Rd, Town of Packwaukee) to rezone a minimum of 4.0 acres to AG-3(4) and 45.38 acres to FPO, totaling 49.38 acres.
Committee action on each item was unanimous. The motion on the Selbach petition was made by John Bennett and seconded by Dave Benson; the Spillner motion was made by Bennett and seconded by Benson; and the Vogelsang motion was made by Dave Benson and seconded by Dave Krentz. All three motions carried 4-0.
Each approved petition will be placed on the County Board agenda for final consideration. The committee adjourned at 9:31 a.m.
