Committee advances shoreland protection ordinance amendments after DNR review

The Marquette County Planning and Zoning Committee voted unanimously on Feb. 5 to approve proposed amendments to Chapter 63 of the county code, the shoreland protection ordinance, and forward the draft to the County Board.
Jean Potter, planning and zoning administrator, walked the committee through page-by-page revisions. Potter said she had sent a copy to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for review and "the DNR gave Potter the go ahead to get the approval from the committee and County board." Judy Nigbor moved to approve the amendment and send it to the County Board; John Bennett seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
The committee recorded no amendments or conditions before forwarding the ordinance. The County Board will consider the amendment at a future meeting.
