Probation highlights Mock Crash outreach, recent seizure and Youth Court launch

Probation Director Jessica McKnight updated the Public Safety Committee on June 3 about enforcement activity, prevention outreach and program starts.
McKnight said a Probation search in the Town of Wellsville resulted in confiscation of 4.5 grams of methamphetamine, needles containing fentanyl, two knives and three BB guns resembling handguns. She described those seizures as examples of interagency cooperation with the Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement.
The committee viewed a YouTube video of a Mock Crash event used for student education; McKnight and Committee Chairman Steven Havey congratulated organizers and participants and urged that the prevention message reach students and families. McKnight noted Allegany County STOP‑DWI maintains a Facebook page with event photos and details.
McKnight also reported that Youth Court will begin June 9 after an initial delay while volunteers completed training; she said a small number of juvenile cases have been screened and that more volunteers are needed for ongoing sessions.
Next steps: Probation will continue interagency coordination on enforcement and outreach and begin Youth Court sessions on June 9.
