Plain City council accepts mayoral appointments and seats M. Terry as council president

Plain City Council approved Mayor Jody Carney’s slate of committee and board appointments and confirmed M. Terry as Council President at a Jan. 8 work session.
Council convened at 6:30 p.m.; after routine approvals of the meeting agenda and Dec. 9 minutes, A. Lewis moved to nominate M. Terry to serve as Council President, seconded by K. Ferguson. "Mr. Terry accepted the nomination," the minutes record. The council’s recorded result was five yeas and one abstention (an abstention from Mr. Terry himself).
Mayor Carney appointed members to several bodies: T. Harriman to the Board of Zoning Appeals; M. Terry to the Parks and Recreation Committee; A. Lewis to the Personnel & Finance, CIP Committee; J. Sintz to the Fire Board; K. Ferguson to the Economic Development Committee; and J. Eudaily to the Madison County CIC and Union County CIC. Council President M. Terry then moved to accept all of Mayor Carney’s appointments as a single slate; "Mr. La Fayette confirmed that all appointments could be approved via one slate," according to the minutes, and Council voted to accept the slate.
The meeting minutes show the motions for the agenda and minutes were moved and approved earlier in the session (motions by T. Harriman and K. Ferguson, respectively). The session adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
Next steps: the appointments take effect as recorded and council will proceed with the committee assignments named by the mayor.
