Plain City considers higher nonresident aquatic center fees amid growth

Granger said rates have not changed since 2020 and that 2024 data show roughly 20% of daily passes were purchased by residents and 80% by nonresidents. "Based on the collected data, staff is recommending a rate increase as shown in the attached exhibit for Resolution 04-2025," she told Council.
Councilors discussed prioritizing residents for registrations and considered limiting nonresident daily passes on high-volume days. President M. Terry said he supports increasing nonresident rates and indicated he may move to amend the nonresident rate higher prior to the second reading of Resolution 04-2025. Council members noted the pool rarely reaches full capacity but acknowledged increased population could require further adjustments in coming years.
No final rate ordinance was adopted at the meeting; staff will proceed with the second-reading process on Resolution 04-2025 and the Parks and Recreation Committee will continue refining recommendations.
