The Allegany County Personnel Committee on June 3 approved the proposed 2027 Workers’ Compensation budget for the Allegany County Mutual Self-Insurance Plan, with total expenses and revenues of $970,000.
Workers’ Compensation Executive Secretary Heather Bedow presented line-item estimates including $88,500 for executive secretary personal services; $175,000 for employers’ excess liability/stop-gap insurance; $90,000 for state assessments; $288,840 for claimant indemnity; and multiple administrative and medical line items. Bedow said the budget balances with revenue apportionment by assessment (1% = $9,680), experience (20% = $193,600) and payroll (79% = $764,720).
The committee approved the proposed budget on a motion by Legislator J. Ricci, seconded by Legislator Janice Burdick. Bedow also presented the proposed 2027 budgeted participant assessments with line-item amounts for Allegany County ($544,395) and participating towns and villages (detailed in the presented schedule). The committee approved the participant assessments on a motion by Legislator Philip B. Curran, seconded by Legislator J. Ricketts-Swales; a resolution levying the towns’ share will be requested with year‑end housekeeping resolutions at Ways & Means in September.
Committee members did not propose amendments during the public presentation; the item will proceed to Ways & Means for any required fiscal resolutions.
