Personnel Committee approves July increment increases for eligible county employees

The Allegany County Personnel Committee on June 3 approved permission to process increment increases for eligible employees effective July 1, 2026, under Resolution No. 1-69. Personnel Officer H. Robert Budinger told the committee that employees hired between July 1 and Dec. 31, 2025 were not eligible for a January 1 increment and therefore will receive their first increment this July; all future increments for those employees will revert to the Jan. 1 schedule.

The committee approved the request on a motion by Legislator Steven A. Havey, seconded by Legislator Janice Burdick, and carried. Committee members referred the action to the Ways & Means Committee for final processing.

Budinger provided a roster of affected employees across multiple departments. Sample entries included Megan Chambers (Index Clerk, County Clerk, benefit date 08/14/2025), Correction Officers Hunter Enders, Rachelle Benjamin, Haeden Smith and Jason Sikorski (benefit dates in September–November 2025), and several Health and Social Services staff. Individual increment amounts on the roster ranged roughly from $0.43 to $1.44 per pay-step depending on job title and step. Budinger said the increments are administrative adjustments to align eligible employees with their scheduled step increases.

The committee’s action was procedural; no formal amendments were proposed during the discussion. The committee clerk recorded the motion as moved by Havey and seconded by Burdick. The matter was referred to Ways & Means for any required fiscal processing or resolutions.
