Summer Burlson, who presented the draft amendments online, said the packet included tracked changes and a resolution for the committee’s consideration; she described the edits as limited to changes previously discussed in March–May meetings. Committee members debated whether staff should read the full text into the record or proceed using the tracked-change attachments already circulated.
Multiple public commenters urged the committee to permit public comment before the committee considered the revisions; one commenter also suggested opening the chair position beyond farmers. Committee legal/staff counsel advised that the group could conduct a section-by-section review but that a single final vote on the revised bylaws was permissible and more time-efficient.
A motion to vote on the bylaws as a whole was moved and seconded. The chair called the vote; one member (Peter) was recorded in opposition and the chair declared the motion carried and the amendments adopted.
What changed and what happens next: the packet attached a clean version of the bylaws and a resolution adopting the amendments; committee members said they will continue to consider meeting efficiency and public‑comment placement at future sessions.
