Andrew Wagensroy was sworn in as a town councilman at the Mamaroneck Town Board meeting on Feb. 4, 2026, filling a vacancy created when Anant Nambiyar was elected county legislator. The board said it reviewed 14 resumes and selected Wagensroy to serve through the November election, when he must run to fill the unexpired term.
The board administered the oath of office, with the appointee repeating the pledge to uphold the U.S. and New York state constitutions and the laws and ordinances of the Town of Mamaroneck. After being seated, Wagensroy told the room he would work to win residents’ trust: "My goal is to earn that trust over the coming months," he said, adding that local government work — "pothole by pothole, service by service, collaboration by collaboration" — is where healing and practical progress begin.
Board members offered public welcomes. Darren, speaking during reports of counsel, said, "I guess I would just like to welcome Andrew to the board," and other members praised his professional experience and willingness to listen.
The board confirmed that the appointment runs until the November election; the appointee will need to run this year in November to complete the unexpired term and then again for a full term in the next regular election. The board completed other business and moved into a closed-room continuation of the meeting later that night.
