Traffic board tables stop-sign and one-way proposals, refers Field Street to city departments

The Fall River Traffic Board chose to table several traffic-control requests at its June 17 meeting and directed staff to pursue additional study and notifications.
A complaint seeking stop signs at Hope Street and Fountain Street and at Hope Street and Eagle Street—filed because of speeding concerns—was tabled so staff could follow up and notify the complainant. A resident requested making Field Street one-way from Stafford Road to Lapham Street to ease congestion during drop-off and pick-up at Holy Trinity School; staff said the item is a first-time request that requires contacting abutters and review by the fire department, police/EMS and the Department of Community Maintenance. "So because this is a request first time, we have to contact the abutters and the fire department as well," a staff member said, and the board tabled the item pending those studies.
A request to make Oliver Street one-way from Broadway to South Beach, cited as narrow, was also tabled for further review and abutter notification. Board members invited applicants and complainants to attend the next meeting to discuss the items in person. No final traffic-control changes were adopted at the June 17 meeting.
The board adjourned after completing its agenda.
