Douglas council approves appointments, accepts small federal grant and advances agenda change
Summary
The council approved appointments to the finance committee and Industrial Development Authority, accepted a $3,000 Operation Stonegarden grant for a speed device, and approved placement for an ordinance adding government updates as a regular agenda item; several consent items including the TYLin selection were also approved.
At its April 22 special meeting the Douglas Mayor and Council took several routine and procedural actions.
The council appointed Councilmember Ida Ann Pedrego as chair of the finance committee and appointed Javier Fimbres to the Industrial Development Authority. The council unanimously approved Resolution No. 26-1732 authorizing acceptance of a $3,000 reallocation under the Arizona Department of Homeland Security’s FFY 2023 Operation Stonegarden program to purchase a vehicle speed measurement device; Lieutenant Michael Lomeli said the department has participated in Stonegarden since its inception and prior expenditures have been reimbursed.
The council also approved placement of Ordinance No. 26-1231 (first reading) to amend City Code section 2.02.020 to add Cochise County government updates as a standing regular-meeting agenda item; City Attorney Denis Fitzgibbons recommended broadening the language to allow general governmental updates that could include state or other representatives, to be incorporated at second reading.
Several consent items, including the appointment votes and the TYLin contract selection under Resolution No. 26-1731, were approved by unanimous roll call.
