The board — Morris Silverstein (chair), William Pike (vice chair), Jonathan Treat and alternates Tom Lyon (seated for Josh Machnik) and Mary Terhune — established leadership for the coming term by a unanimous 4:0:0 vote after a motion from Jonathan Treat, seconded by Tom Lyon. The same unanimous margin carried approval of the prior meeting minutes and the motion to set the board’s regular 2024 meeting dates for the second Tuesday of each month (Jan. 16; Feb. 13; Mar. 12; Apr. 9; May 14; June 11; July 9; Aug. 13; Sept. 10; Oct. 8; Nov. 12; Dec. 10), with meetings to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Bolton Town Hall, 222 Bolton Center Road.
Board members discussed education requirements for Land Use Commission members and the handbook "CT Zoning Boards of Appeal" by Atty. Steven E. Byrne. Members were asked to bring their copies to future meetings. The board noted that Land Use Commission members must complete four hours of required education; a tentative date of Dec. 20, 2023 was proposed for viewing a group presentation, and Chairman Morris Silverstein said he is compiling a list of general statutes for any members who are interested.
There were no public comments and no additional items under "Other." William Pike moved to adjourn at 7:28 p.m.; Jonathan Treat seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The minutes were submitted by Leslie J. Brand and the record notes that subsequent meeting minutes may include corrections.
