The City of Pacific Council convened Feb. 10, 2025. Council President Kerry Garberding presented Mayor Kave with a Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities. Council Member Mann announced he will attend the Regional Transit Committee meeting on Feb. 19.
On ordinances, the council conducted a first reading of Ordinance 2025-2101 to amend Pacific Municipal Code Chapter 2.04; council consensus was to remove scheduling language from the code and refer meeting scheduling to the Council Rules. A voice vote moved the ordinance to final reading on Feb. 24, 2025 by a recorded voice vote of 6-1.
Mayor Kave convened a closed session under state law (RCW 42.30.140(4)(b)) to discuss collective bargaining; the transcript indicates the closed session was set for 10 minutes and stated 'until 7:26 p.m.' and records a reconvened time of 6:48 p.m.; that discrepancy in recorded times is noted for clarification. The meeting returned to open session and approved the consent agenda — payroll, claims vouchers and minutes — on a 7-0 voice vote. Mayor Kave adjourned the meeting at 7:27 p.m.
