The Wata Water Board approved several procurement items June 16. The board accepted a package of low bids for chemicals used in treatment, including caustic soda (low bid Bordon & Remington), polyaluminum chloride (Holland & Co.), carbon dioxide (Lindian Co.) and sodium hypochlorite (Univar). The chair noted overall chemical prices were lower than recent peak years.
Separately, the board awarded the annual electrical/ emergency-services contract to Fall River Electrical Services for $35,000 (single bidder) and accepted the low bid for laboratory sampling and testing from Rhode Island Analytical at $26,868 over Microbac’s $27,271 bid.
All procurement recommendations were moved, seconded and approved on voice votes.
