The Fore River Sewer Commission approved the fiscal year 2027 chemical awards in aggregate on June 16 after staff corrected an error in the meeting packet that reversed the listings for caustic (sodium hydroxide) and sodium hypochlorite.
Staff reviewed the corrected bid table on the record and identified the low bidders by chemical and quantity: the packet shows a 300,000‑gallon sodium hypochlorite line at $561,536 and a 10,000‑gallon caustic/NaOH line at roughly $47,096 (staff corrected the on‑packet reversal during the meeting). Commissioners agreed to approve the full vendor list as amended for FY27 and voted to accept the awards in the aggregate to streamline procurement.
Separately, the commission reviewed bids for required toxicity testing. Pace Analytical Services LLC submitted the low bid at $21,874 for the testing contract; the commission moved, seconded and awarded the toxicity-testing contract to Pace.
Commissioners and staff discussed that procurement will follow Massachusetts procurement rules and that award details represent individual contracts to be administered under the plant’s procurement process. The commission’s aggregate approval is subject to the corrected record; staff said they will proceed with contract execution consistent with procurement law and the amended packet.
All motions were approved by voice vote.
