Yerington council approves one-hour curb parking near schools during school hours

The Yerington City Council unanimously approved an ordinance-level parking enforcement change on Feb. 23 to authorize one-hour curb parking limits immediately adjacent to public school buildings during school hours.
Interim City Manager Jerry Bryant brought the item back to the council after staff discovered signs and lacked supporting documentation for prior approvals; Bryant said the change will allow enforcement of time-limited curb parking to prioritize school traffic and encourage use of designated lots. Exemptions noted in the proposal include handicap zones, residential curbs opposite school buildings and public-safety or law-enforcement vehicles, and enforcement will be consistent with Title 6, Chapter 7 of the Yerington City Code.
Councilman Nick Beaton moved to approve the item and Councilman Omar Lopez seconded; no public comment was recorded on this item and the motion passed unanimously.
