The Lisbon School District board used its June 22 meeting to clear multiple governance items and personnel announcements.
Policy actions: The board waved first readings and approved changes to several policies, adopting model language recommended by legal counsel for budget procedures (policy 3160S), student‑stability provisions (policy 5000) and the social‑media series (policy 4000). The board also retracted older district language that was replaced by the new model policies. Votes on these items were unanimous. During the social‑media discussion the board clarified parent permission language and struck ambiguous phrasing that might have been interpreted to forbid all staff contact with students outside of school.
Personnel and recognition: The board confirmed the hire of Chad Carpenter as lead maintainer (step 14 on the maintenance scale; start date June 22) following a competitive search. The board also announced the Ethel Duchan scholarship award: Mave Pies will receive $3,745 from the community‑foundation account and plans to attend Springfield College to study occupational therapy.
Communications: An ad‑hoc communications committee reported it has set up district social‑media accounts (socialmedia@school.org) for a soft rollout this summer and is reviewing permission forms and privacy guidance with counsel.
The board moved singleton contracts and salary agreements to an executive session following public comment as listed on the agenda.
