Douglass Township authorizes discussions to pursue 75.74-acre Long Property and directs hiring steps for Building Inspector

During the Manager's report on July 15 Manager Andrew Duncan described an opportunity for Douglass Township to acquire 75.74 acres known as the Long Property (Jackson Road area) for open‑space preservation. Duncan said acquisition would require grant funding and that he and staff had met with Heritage Conservancy and the Natural Lands Trust to explore options. The board voted unanimously to authorize Solicitor Wendy McKenna and Engineer Khal Hassan to deliberate with representatives from Heritage Conservancy and Natural Lands Trust regarding the potential acquisition.
Duncan also reported that three candidates were interviewed for the Building Inspector/Zoning Officer position and recommended drafting an Offer of Employment for the preferred candidate. The board directed staff to prepare an offer and requested the candidate attend the Aug. 19 meeting.
Both actions were recorded as motions passed unanimously; the acquisition action requests further deliberation and does not commit township funds absent grant awards or future board approvals.
