LTAP study recommends signs, pavement markings, and speed tables for Bartman Avenue; township to consider traffic calming policy

Manager Andrew Duncan told the board that a Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) traffic study for Bartman Avenue is complete and offered a set of engineering and signage recommendations.
LTAP's suggestions included enhancing 25 mph signage, installing portable radar speed‑awareness signs, painting "25 MPH" pavement markings, adding travel lane markings and transverse rumble strip pavement markings, and considering speed tables or cushions. Duncan said the township should discuss and adopt a Traffic Calming Policy to guide implementation of these measures.
Engineer Khal Hassan commented that the township is being proactive by reviewing these recommendations. The board directed staff to consider a traffic calming policy at a future board meeting and to include implementation cost estimates for the proposed measures.
No formal policy was adopted at the Aug. 19 meeting; staff was asked to return with policy language and cost estimates for board consideration.
