Tom Miedema presented the updated plans and materials. After discussion, Commissioner Rick Westerling moved to approve the site plan finding it met the site plan review standards of Section 24.06 of the Allendale Charter Township Zoning Ordinance. The motion included a condition that the Ottawa County Water Resources Commissioner’s Office review and approve required water-resources aspects prior to construction; if the OCWRC review alters the site layout, the applicant must return to the Planning Commission for revised approval. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Todd Bronson and passed unanimously, 4-0.
Why the OCWRC review matters: the county water-resources office examines stormwater, drainage and related infrastructure; the commission’s condition ensures that any required changes arising from the county review will be incorporated before construction begins or will be returned to the commission for further approval.
Next steps: the applicant must secure OCWRC approval before construction permits are issued; if the county’s review necessitates layout changes, the Planning Commission expects the applicant to obtain revised site plan approval.
