Washington County approves two IDOT bridge funding agreements and releases retainage for Engineer's Office building

County Engineer Jacob Thorius presented Agreement No. 5‑26‑HBP‑S‑011 for a bridge replacement on Underwood Avenue north of G36 over Whiskey Creek and Agreement No. 5‑26‑HBP‑S‑012 for a bridge replacement on Lexington Boulevard northeast of West Chester over a Small Stream. Thorius said each project has a preliminary eligible construction cost of $800,000 and that construction is expected in the late 2027 or 2028 construction season.
The board approved Agreement No. 5‑26‑HBP‑S‑011 on a motion by Marcus Fedler, seconded by Stan Stoops, and approved Agreement No. 5‑26‑HBP‑S‑012 on a motion by Richard Young, seconded by Marcus Fedler. Both motions passed unanimously.
The board also voted to release a final retainage payment of $66,551.44 to Carl A. Nelson & Co. The minutes allocate that payment as $42,063.69 to Christner Contracting (general construction), $15,049.70 to Winger for mechanical work, and $9,438.05 to Ace Electric for electrical services. The motion to release retainage was made by Marcus Fedler and seconded by Richard Young.
