Mayor says council passed first reading of UDO; commission discusses meeting schedule

The mayor told the Planning Commission on Aug. 25 that the City Council passed the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) on first reading following two public hearings that produced no speakers for or against the measure.
"Council passed the first reading of the UDO," the mayor said, adding the public hearings had no one appear to speak either for or against the ordinance. The mayor also complimented the commission on the meeting space.
Separately, a commissioner proposed shifting the planning commission’s regular meeting to the week before city council meetings so contractors would have extra lead time. After brief discussion about scheduling and the ability to call special meetings, the commissioner withdrew the proposal. The mayor said staff will continue to accommodate timing needs and can call special planning commission or council meetings when necessary.
The chair closed the meeting with reminders about the Labor Day city-office closure and upcoming meeting dates.
