The Caro City Council voted Feb. 3 to adjust its fiscal year budget after receiving multiple grants, reallocating funds to training, police pay, election supplies, a community program and fire technology.
Councilor Gregory Hutchison moved to approve the adjustments and Councilor Emily Campbell seconded. The council approved increases to these line items: $16,284 to 101-301-960-000 (Education & Training); $4,716 to 101-301-702-000 (Police Wages — Full Time); $11,000 to 101-262-740-000 (Election Supplies); $1,370 to 101-301-967-000 (Shop with a Hero); and $5,000 to 216-336-750-000 (Fire Technology). The roll call vote was Campbell — yes, Hutchison — yes, Kish — yes, Oedy — yes, Parker — yes, White — absent, Mayor Karen Snider — yes.
City Manager Scott Czasak reported separately on forthcoming bids for website design, a parking-lot project and audit services; he said the roof on the Chippewa well house has been completed and provided an update on a bathroom remodel bid. Czasak also noted a grant submission for the parking-lot work. Those operational updates were presented as informational and did not change the approved budget adjustments.
The council approved the consent agenda and other housekeeping items earlier in the meeting. There was no public comment during the budget discussion. The council scheduled a Committee of the Whole meeting for Feb. 6, 2025, where staff may present further details on capital and procurement items.
