The Town of Marlborough’s Commission on Aging reviewed detailed plans and a preliminary budget for the Marlborough Senior Center’s 25th‑anniversary celebration at its June 16 meeting. Senior Services Director Shoshana Merced told commissioners the center has approximately $4,500 available and is moving forward with vendor quotes and in‑kind sponsorships.
Merced presented itemized estimates she said had been obtained: a 30‑by‑45 framed tent estimated at $2,431 (with setup Thursday and breakdown Monday), a photo booth for $450, live music from the Silk City String Band for about $500–$600, and catering from Highland Park Market quoted at $695. She also outlined in‑kind support: an ice cream truck or station sponsored by Marlborough Health and Rehab and Addison Place; yard signs sponsored by Civita; a caricature artist sponsored by Colebrook Village; drinks sponsored by Careforth; and fresh flowers sponsored by The Residence. Decorations and tablecloths were left to staff to arrange.
Commissioners discussed promotional materials and poster design and reviewed potential printing costs. The commission considered two options for the plaque wording but tabled that vote for a subsequent meeting.
Next steps: staff will finalize vendor arrangements consistent with the available funds and return with final decisions on the plaque and any additional expenses. The anniversary planning and promotional efforts were also slated to be highlighted at Marlborough Day to help publicize the event.
