The Town of Marlborough Board of Finance voted June 15 to accept a tax suspense list of $31,765.52 and to set the 2026–27 mill rate at 27.10.
Tax Collector Barbara Lazzari presented the Suspense List and told the board the town has contracted with collection agency Tax Serve to assist with back taxes. "The Town has contracted with Tax Serve, a collection agency, to help collect back taxes," the record states. On a motion by member Ken Hjulstrom, seconded by Will Guzman, the board approved the list.
Chairperson Michael Nastri moved to set the mill rate at 27.10 for the 2026–27 fiscal year; Baird Welch-Collins seconded. Board members said setting the rate will allow tax bills to be sent on time. The board noted that the RHAM school referendum is scheduled for June 16, 2026. The motion passed with all seated members voting in favor.
Members raised procedural questions about the financial reports, saying several items required the Town Manager's input and requesting that questions be emailed to the chair for forwarding. The board also reiterated concerns about receiving financial reports only hours before meetings and discussed possible changes to timing and distribution.
The board's actions clear the way for the tax bills to be prepared and mailed under the newly adopted mill rate; no further details on timing or mailing schedules were specified at the meeting. The board adjourned at 7:32 p.m.
