Select Board hears road maintenance updates; Road Commissioner urges curve reduction after Egypt Road blasting

At the Sept. 23 meeting the Jefferson Select Board heard several road maintenance updates from the Road Commissioner.
The Road Commissioner reported that ditching work on Egypt Road is complete and a blasting contractor finished required blasting. The commissioner recommended reducing the curve at a known dangerous corner on Egypt Road to improve safety.
Board members also noted three trees down on Sennett Road and one tree on the island between North Mountain Road and Village Street; the downed trees were marked with ribbons for removal. Staff member Lynne was unable to reach Donnie Clark before the meeting and said she would contact him the next day to arrange tree removal.
On South Clary Road, resident Oktavijo Luksic asked for a culvert replacement that he said was removed by a neighbor to allow access to his field. Robert Clark Jr. and the Road Commissioner discussed the request; Clark will place a stake to mark the location for the work.
The Road Commissioner also informed the board that sand will be delivered to the town’s salt shed next week.
