Select Board hears multiple road updates and unanimously approves $46,500 winter sand purchase

The Road Commissioner reported there is significant ledge along Egypt Road and that Vaughan Stevens—who provides estimates for Hagar—believes blasting could be expensive. The Road Commissioner will contact Tim McGee for an estimate to break up the ledge. Ditching work is expected to be complete to Footloose Lane by July 19, and the Road Commissioner said he will have an estimate for a pounder at the next Select Board meeting.
Contractors Dylan Peaslee and Brandon Johnston offered to buy and haul winter sand at $15.50 per yard for 3,000 yards, a total of $46,500. A motion to approve that purchase and hauling was made, seconded and passed on a 3-0 vote. The Road Commissioner was asked to request a separate estimate to buy and deliver salt and present it at the next meeting. The board also noted alignment of the town office and town roads snowplowing contract cycles and discussed roadside mowing; Gary Castner indicated willingness to perform roadside mowing and bushwhacking again.
The board recorded no additional votes on equipment estimates or blasting plans; those will return as estimates and proposals at future meetings.
