Bill Farren brought a draft Solar Panel Farm Ordinance to the Jefferson Select Board and said the Planning Board is supporting the measure 5-0. The board discussed edits to the ordinance and noted parallel changes to the town's building ordinance that will also go on the November ballot.
Select Board members said the town must follow the election timeline: ballot questions need to be finalized at least 60 days before the secret ballot election, and the public hearing must occur at least 10 days before the vote. No formal action by the Select Board to place the ordinance on the ballot was recorded at the meeting.
The board asked staff to ensure the ballot language and required public-hearing notice meet the timeline so voters can consider both the solar ordinance and the related building ordinance changes in November. The Select Board did not set specific hearing dates at the July 15 meeting.
