John, the public works presenter, reviewed spring maintenance work including plow and wing servicing, roadside cleanup, placement of benches and flower pots, dock and swim-dock installation, grading of gravel roads and ditching on Handslope Road, and overlays on Hen Road and Temple Road. He said a truck ordered in January is in production and will reach body outfitting soon, with final delivery expected in the fall or about a year from bid acceptance for new vehicles.
John also reported transfer-station maintenance needs (a worn center pin for a bucket) and planned rear walking-beam bushing work on a 2013 West Star. He noted ongoing adjustments to recycling acceptance and said the town has added acceptance for additional plastic numbers (discussion referenced numbers 2, 5 and 7 but rules were described as changing and not fully certain).
In the manager’s report, Aaron said two town vehicles sold through Auctions International: a 2017 International for $17,600 and a 2007 GMC pickup for $470. After standard fees, the manager reported net proceeds of $18,010 and requested those funds be deposited into the highway capital equipment account. The board moved, seconded and unanimously approved placing the proceeds into the highway capital equipment account.
The board also approved appropriations and routine maintenance requests during the meeting; public works will follow up on parts procurement and vehicle outfitting timelines.
