At its May 21 meeting, Limington’s department leaders reported routine maintenance, staffing and program activity across public works, the transfer station, emergency services and parks and recreation.
The public works report said crews worked on reestablishing beaver dams at Pine Hill and Milturn, handled truck inspections and repairs (including truck 3 and outfitting truck 7), marked potentially hazardous trees and obtained quotes for removal. The department noted a $2,500 quote from Gorm Fence to replace a damaged guardrail at Tucker Bridge scheduled for June.
Transfer station staff reported 199 users across May 13–17; 157 of those users were recyclers (78.9% recycling rate) and revenue for the period was $872.
Fire and EMS reported seven calls that week (three fire calls and four EMS calls), with month‑to‑date totals of 23 and year‑to‑date totals of 265 calls. The department said there were two days of partial coverage but that no calls required mutual aid; the fire chief logged 43 combined hours for the reporting period.
Parks and recreation summarized programs and upcoming events: before/after care, weekly coffee hours, pickleball, te‑ball, spring track and field (track meets May 29 and June 12), summer camp (six weeks, July 6–Aug 14), a community yard sale on June 13, and the Fourth of July parade on July 4 at 10 a.m. and fireworks on July 3 at dusk. The meeting noted there will be a band at the fireworks and thanked Scout Pack 315 and buildings and grounds tech Jake Smith for cleanup and prep work.
Separately, the board congratulated Limington native and HBM school teacher Allison Mundy for being named York County Teacher of the Year.
